A: We strongly advise you to apply for an F visa, followed by an L Visa as an alternative. Please refer to the F Visa Application Process document.

Q: Could you share a recommended packing list for Mathcamp?
A: Here is a general recommendation based on common advice: Pack comfortable clothing, sturdy walking shoes, umbrella, and essentials like a reusable water bottle and hat. For your academic needs, bring notebooks, pens, a laptop and a backpack. And hotels provide basic amenities, including bedding and daily towel replacement.

Q: Which hotel will I stay at?
A: You will stay at the hotel specified in your check-in information email.

Q: What documents are required for hotel check-in?
A: Please present the following valid ID at check-in:
- Chinese Mainland students: Chinese ID card.
- Chinese Hong Kong and Macau students: Exit-Entry Permit (EEP).
- International students: Passport.
Note: Please kindly carry your ID at all times during Mathcamp, as it may be requested for various activities.
Q: When is the daily hotel room check?
A: Room checks occur every night at around 9:00 PM throughout Mathcamp.
Q: How is laundry handled?
A: A complimentary self-service laundry room is available at your hotel.

Q: Where will I have courses and Opening & Closing Ceremonies?
A: They will be held in SIMIS.

Q: Can parents attend the Opening or Closing Ceremony?
A: Parents are warmly welcome to join both ceremonies! Due to venue capacity, we will seat parents in a separate classroom with live-stream access.
Q: Can I change my assigned courses?
A: We regret that course changes cannot be accommodated due to fixed enrollment capacities.
Q: Is remote/online participation available?
A: To prioritize meaningful in-person engagement with lecturers, TAs, and peers through collaborative work, we do not offer remote participation options.
Q: Will lectures be recorded?
A: Yes, links to recordings will be shared but will only be accessible within the SIMIS building.
Q: Are there sport facilities at SIMIS?
A: Yes. The gym on the 4th floor is open during participants’ spare time. Please use all equipment safely and responsibly to prevent accidents or damage.
Q: What if I have an emergency requiring me to leave Mathcamp?
A: Leaves of absence are strictly limited to a maximum of 3 class days and require valid justification. To request leave, you must obtain advance approval by submitting a formal application prior to departure. This application must include the times of absence, a detailed reason, and guardian contact information (name + phone).
Q: What are the weekend arrangements?
A: During weekends, attendance at colloquium talks is required for all Mathcamp students. The excursion remains an optional activity—details regarding destinations, costs, and itineraries will be shared shortly.
For everyone's safety, nightly room checks at the hotel will continue at 9:00 PM at weekends. Should you need to stay elsewhere overnight, please kindly submit an advance leave application for approval.
